MyCup

MyCup is a set of four slip-cast porcelain mugs all born from the same two plaster moulds and visually unified with a horizontal band of blue pattern. Yet, each has its own distinct physical shape and character. The mugs play on the irrational emotional attachments we each make to everyday objects, often subconsciously.

The work questions how mass-production techniques might be tweaked in order to subvert the homogeneous streams of objects they produce. If we can begin to create objects which are a more authentic reflection of their idiosyncratic human users, we might in turn design for emotional durability and avoid such fast-paced, disposable patterns of consumption.

Materials: slip-cast porcelain, digitally printed ceramic transfer print
