In Case of Emergency

Break glass boxes are installed in many public places to provide a last resort for exit in case of fire or other emergency. The transparent glass allows you to anticipate the result and its empemeral nature requires a commitment to use.

These same qualities can be applied to a money box, which might challenge us to consider more carefully how and when we spend and save our money.

[Ironically] in production with Suck UK since 2007; predictably ripped-off by Flying Tiger ten years later.

Exhibited at Tent London, 2007 and It’s Nice That Original Format Exhibtion, 2008. Image used widely in media after the financial crash of 2008.

Orignal working prototype designed and made by Becky Miller.
Materials: standard break glass box, glass screen, laser cut vinyl text.
Year: 2007
